How it works
- 01
Mifflin–St Jeor estimates resting energy: 10 × weight in kg + 6.25 × height in cm − 5 × age, then add 5 for the male equation or subtract 161 for the female equation.
- 02
To estimate total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), multiply resting energy by the selected activity factor: 1.2, 1.375, 1.55, 1.725, or 1.9.
- 03
US weights and heights are converted to kilograms and centimeters first. Results are rounded to whole kcal/day; the activity factor and equation are broad assumptions, not personal measurements.
Try a real scenario
70 kg, 175 cm, age 30
InputsMale equation (+5), moderately active (×1.55)
ResultAbout 1,649 kcal/day resting energy and 2,556 kcal/day estimated TDEE.
